WILLIAM GIPP, RETIRED FARMER DIES JAN. 29
William Frederick Gipp, retired farmer, of 1474 Tenth st., died at 11:55 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at his home.
He was born the son of John C. and Caroline Vollbrecht Gipp Oct. 12, 1873 at Dewelow, Germay. In 1887 he came to the U.S. with his parents and settled in Monona, Iowa.
On Feb. 16, 1904 he was married to Ida Schuette at Postville. Mrs. Gipp passed away Oct. 1, 1956, at Cedar Rapids. Mrs. Gipp lived for many years in the Tripoli vicinity until he moved to Marion in 1921.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. T. Edwin (Hilda) Beadle; a son, Harvey, both of Marion; a step-son, E. Otto Hughes of Postville; six grandchildren, Mrs. George (Margaret) Ludlow, George Gipp, Mrs. Wayne (Judith) Root, Mrs. Robert (Jane) Carne, Evart J. Hughes and Mrs. Byron (Darlene) Schultz; twelve great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Charles (Ida) Wodrich of Owatonna, Minn.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Fred and Herman, three sisters, Minnie Utpadel, Louisa Pankow and Bertha Ruebenow and two brothers in infancy.
Services Friday, Feb. 1, at the Murdoch Chapel in Marion, were conducted by Pastor E.I., Brandt. Organist was Mrs. Edwin I. Carstens. Interment at Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
