LAST SERVICES HELD FOR JOHN EMMONS

Last Rites Held from Presbyterian Church Friday Afternoon
Funeral services for the late John Emmons, brief mention of whose death was made in The Sentinel last week, were held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Presbyerian church, conducted by Rev. Harry Glenn Finney, and were largely attended by friends and neighbors who had gathered to pay a last tribute of respect to his memory. The interment was in Oak Shade cemetery.
He was born June 17, 1848 in Linn county near Mount Vernon. He was married to Alice Hill at Butler, Mo., Jan. 1, 1870. They settled on a farm six miles east of Marion and lived there until 1894 when they moved to Marion. They moved to Marion in 1907. His wife died in 1912 and a son Delbert in 1911.
He leaves three sons Bert Emmons, who lives near Marion; Clifford, Washington and Kimball at home, and two daughters, Mrs. Evan Adams of near Marion and Mrs. Lois Reimers of Marion.
One brother, William Emmons, Mount Vernon and one sister, Mrs. T.C. Oxley, Long Beach, Calif.
Mr. Emmons was a member of the Presbyterian church and Marion Lodge No. 6, A F and A.M.
