Obituary of Mrs. John Emmons

Alice Adaline Hill was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Oct. 16, 1849. When about the age of four years, she, with her parents, moved to the neighborhood known as "Scott's mill," where the family resided until she was 18 years of age, when they moved to Butler, Mo.
She was united in marriage to Mr. John Emmons, Jan. 2, 1870, at Butler, Mo. To this union were given nine children, three of whom died in infancy and another, Delbert, a young man, died a little over a year ago, Feb. 16, 1911.
Those living and who today mourn the death, are the husband and five children: Bert Emmons, Mrs. Eva Adams, of Marion; Clifford Emmons, of Garfield, Washington; Kimball and Lois Emmons, of Marion. Two brothers, Rev. Oscar Hill, of Santa Ana, Cal., and Dr. Kimball Hill, of Eldorado Springs, Mo. Two sisters, Mrs. Martha Steele, of Butler, Mo., and Mrs. Carrie Harper, oc Columbia, Mo.
About thirty years ago she united with the United Brethren church of Bertram, Iowa. Upon moving to Marion, some seventeen years ago, she united with the Presbyterian church, and has ever been an earnest, faithful member and will be greatly missed in the services of the church. The funeral services were conducted from the home on yesterday afternoon by Revs. Ensign and Starr.
