Services Were Held Sunday for Mrs. Annie E. Mitchell
Mrs. Annie E. Mitchell, 364 Seventh avenue, Marion, who was born 85 years ago in a log cabin passed away early Friday evening in a Cedar Rapids hospital, following an illness of about six weeks.
Born September 7, 1853 to Joseph and Amanda Worley Yeisley in a log cabin three miles north of Mount Vernon, the deceased grew to womanhood on a farm one mile north of what is now Bennett. On March 31, 1872, she was married to Charles A. Mitchell at Inland, Iowa, in Cedar County, and the couple started housekeeping on a farm in the Bennett neighborhood, later they moved to Clarence and then to Mount Vernon. March 1, 1881 they moved to Marion, where Mrs. Mitchell has since resided.
Surviving is one son, Edwin R. Mitchell and one grandson, Paul C. Mitchell of Marion. The husband died November 26, 1919, and two other sons have preceded her in death. Joseph Y. Mitchell, who died March 11, 1921, and Frank S. Mitchell, who passed away November 9 last year.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at two-thirty o'clock from the Yocom chapel in charge of Ernest A. Kennedy. Interment was in Oak Shade.
