Services For R. Lee Taylor to be Friday
Telegraph Operator Died Wednesday After Long Illness

Marion lost a good friend and neighbor in the death of R. Lee Taylor, who died at his home, 959 Tenth street, Wednesday morning, after an illness of several months. He was a veteran railroad man, and had served as telegraph operator for twenty-nine years, most of the time in Marion. He was a faithful worker, a kindly-hearted, genial citizen, and perhaps best described by one of the men about town who knew him well as "a prince of a fellow." He was granted a leave of absence from service a few months ago because of ill health.
Mr. Taylor belonged to a local Masonic lodge, the Railway Telegraphers organization. Surviving him is his wife.
The funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. from the Yocom chapel. Rev. H.O. Allen of the Congregational church will be in charge. Burial will be in Oak Shade cemetery.
