Mary Snyder, 84, a resident of Marion, most of her life, died in a Cedar Rapids hospital June 24.
She was born Feb. 17, 1894 at Shellsburg. Mary operated the Mari-Ann taxi service for over 30 years. During this time she foudn out that she had at one time had Dillinger in her cab.
She had been a resident of a Marion Nursing Home for the past nine years.
While living at Winslow House Care Center, on Indian Creek Road, Miss Snyder, although confined to a wheelchair, carried on with many activities.
She always took part in the programs either by singing or playing the harmonica. She also assisted in handicraft projects and helped out with laundry.
She loved animals and had a pet canary, who had been with her for many years.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic church.
There are no immediate survivors.
A funeral mass was held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's church in Marion, celebrated by the Rev. J. David Pepper. Burial was in Oak Shade cemetery. Arrangements were by Baxter Memorial Chapel. A rosary was recited Monday at 7:30 p.m. in Baxter's Chapel in Marion.
