George Dallas, youngest child of Henry and Sarah Prentice York, was born in Cedar Rapids, January 25, 1886 and died in Chicago, October 7, 1947.

He received his education in the Cedar Rapids schools. In early manhood he united with the Church of the Brethren and became an active worker in the Sunday school.

On August 24, 1911, he was married to Bessie I. Bohrer and established their home in Cedar Rapids. To them was born a son, Prentice, and a daughter, Mary Achenbach, of Cedar Rapids.

As a boy, he found employment for part time in the Martin Dry Goods store. Because of his pleasing personality and faithful servie, he became next to head salesman in the rug department. He remained in this employ until Feburary, 1914, when he and his wife moved on a farm near Clarence. During the last few years, he was employed at Chevy Chase, Maryland.

He is survived by his wife, and son and daughter with their families. The four grandchildren are: Jerry and Phillip York and La Vern and Daryl Achenbach. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Alice Farnsworth of Cedar Rapids, and a number of nephews and nieces.

Funeral service were held at the Turner Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, Friday, October 10. Rev. M. C. Early of the Cedar Rapids Church of the Brethren officiated being assisted by Rev. O. H. Schroer of the Tipton Evangelical and Reformed church. Interment in the Cedar Rapids Oak Hill cemetery.
