Mrs. Ruth Etta Kinney, 87, died at 10 a.m. Friday at her home, 671 Thirteenth street, following a long illness.
Born near Onslow, Jones county, March 27, 1855, she was married at Anamosa Nov. 10, 1872, to Thomas J. Kinney, a Civil war veteran. Mr. and Mrs. Kinney moved to Marion in March, 1917, from Paralta, where they had operated a store. Mr. Kinney died July 17, 1927.
Mrs. Kinney was a member of the methodist church. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ava L. Waddill of Gerber, Calif., Mrs. Alda Mae Nielson of Marion and Mrs. Alva J. Kyle of Martelle; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A daughter and three sons preceded her in death.
Services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Yocom chapel by the Rev. Arthur W. Henke. Burial will be in Oak Shade cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel after Saturday noon.
