W.F. Johnson, Retired Railroad Man, Is Dead
William Frederick Johnson, 78, retired railroad employe and Marion resident for 43 years, died at 9 p.m. Thursday at his home, 409 Twenty-second street, following a long illness.
Born at Potsdam, N.Y., Jan. 29, 1865, he was married at Parie[sic] du Chien, Wis., Oct. 26, 1886, to Alma Hall, who died in Marion Aug. 23, 1937[sic]. Mr. Johnson retired in 1931 after 47 years of railroad service. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Fleisher, Marion; two stepchildren, Mrs. George W. Hills, Los Angeles, and Emery D. Johnson, Council Bluffs; a brother, Frank Johnson, Dubuque; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Yocom chapel, where friends may call. The Rev. Benjamin H. Shaw will officiate and burial will be in Oak Shade.
