Leon E. Eckhart Services Wednesday
Leon Eugene Eckhart, 37, of Mairon, died at Mercy hospital in Cedar Rapids at 11:05 a.m. Monday after an illness of several months. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Yocom chapel with D.M. Cassiday officiating. Burial was in Oak Shade cemetery.
Mr. Eckhart was born Jan. 4, 1910 at Lamoni, Iowa, the son of Russell B. and Florence Green Eckhart. He spent most of his life in Marion and Cedar Rapids. He was employed by the Western Grocery Co. Mr. Eckhart was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Cedar Rapids.
Surviving are his father of Marion and the following brothers and sisters: Wayne I. Eckhart, Minneapolis; Mrs. Laurince Clark, Cedar Rapids; Doris Eckhart, Marion; Mrs. Bernita Sills, Marion; Norman Zier, Moline, Ill., and Basil Zier, Green Belt, Md. His mother died Oct. 13, 1926 and a sister, Ardys L. Eckhart, passed away Ja. 1, 1930.
