Raymond W. Eckhart, 88, formerly of 560 10th St., Marion, died Monday in Crestview Acres Nursing Home, Marion. Services: 11 a.m...Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Survivors include a daughter, Hazel Hof of Gladbrook; and two sisters, Evelyn Bills of Cedar Rapids and Alice Olson of Marion.
Also surviving are three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Raymond Robert Eckhart.
He was born the son of Earl and Mary Bushnell Eckhart on May 2, 1904, in Oelwein. He married Katherine Frank on July 29, 1925, in Urbana, IA. She died June 8, 1988. Raymond owned and operated Eckhart's Antiques in Marion for 43 years, retiring in 1985. Mr. Eckhart was a former mayor of Marion, served from 1942 to 1970 on the Marion City Countil and was in charge of Oak Shade Cemetery. He published a book entitled "Antiques and the Gluepot." He was a member of Marion Kiwanis, Gideon's and First Baptist Church, Marion. He had resided at the nursing home for the last seven years.
The Rev. Robert Nelson will officiate. A memorial fund has been established.
