Thelma A. Smeed, 90, of 225 29th St. Dr. SE, died Tuesday in Willow Gardens Care Center, Marion. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, First Presbyterian Church, Marion. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Murdoch Funeral Home, Marion.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol and her husband, Don Rees, of Robins; a son, James of Cedar Rapids; and a brother, Ray Hosterman of Mondovi, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; three brothers, Freddie, Bob and Matt; and a sister, Marcella Siegel.
Born the daughter of Ray and Josephine Hosterman on Dec. 8, 1902, in Minneapolis, she married Harold Smeed on June 7, 1930, in Detroit. He died Sept. 19, 1986. Thelma was a registered nurse before her retirement. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Marion, where she was active with church work, and also volunteered at St. Luke's Hospital.
The Revs. Jay Miller and Clark Vincent will officiate. A memorial fund has been established.
