Harold W. Smeed, 82, of 225 29th St. Dr. SE, died Friday evening at St. Luke's Hospital.
He was born Oct. 20, 1903, at Jackson, Mich. On June 7, 1930, at Detroit, Mich., he married Thelma Hosterman. Mr. Smeed was a graduate of Wayne State University. He was employed by the Milwaukee Railroad for 30 years and was a claims adjustor prior to his retirement in 1967. He was an elder and deacon of First Presbyterian Church of Marion; a 50-year member of Marion Lodge No. 6, AF & AM; Cedar Rapids Consistory; El Kahir Shrine, and the Retire Railroad Men's Club.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, James of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Carol Rees of Robins; and two sisters, Katherine Smeed and Esther Smeed, both of Jackson, Mich.
Services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Murdoch Chapel, Marion, by the Rev. Jay Miller of Frist Presbyterian Church. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion....
