Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Yocom chapel here for Richard Martin, 75 years old, who died Sunday. He had been in poor health for about three years. Rev. James Alcock of the Congregational church was in charge of the services and burial was in Oak Shade cemetery. Mr. Martin was born in Swaffam Prior, England, the son of William and Anne Martin, and he was one of a family of nine children. He was married in England in 1879 to Mary Ann Hinson, and they came to America in 1881, settling on a farm three miles south of Marion. They had five children, four of whom survive. Mrs. Martin died in August, 1928. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Maude Bobst and Mrs. Ivy Gauerholtz, both of Marion; two sons, Albert Martin of Marion and Bert Martin of Independence, eighteen grandchildren; one brother, Frederick of Martelle, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Ann Smith of Cambridgeshire, England, besides a host of friends and more distant relatives who mourn his death.
