Harley C. "Harry" Silker, 72, a resident of Cedar Rapids seven years, died at 5:20 a.m. Thursday at his home, 855 Second street NW, after a brief illness.
Born at Lamont March 23, 1877, he had been employed by R.W. Rinderknecht and Company for many years. A former resident of Lamont and Waterloo, he also lived in Marion for 20 years. He was a member of Marion Methodist chuch.
Surviving are his wife, the former Viola Stevens; a daughter, Mrs. Marion Klinger, of Marion; three sons, Harold, of Oakland, Calif., Kenneth, of Marion, and Theodore, of Kirbyville, Texas; a sister, Mrs. Mina Kline, of Des Moines; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Services will be conducted in the Yocom chapel in Marion at a time to be announced later. Burial will be in Oak Shade cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.
