Frank A. Tilp, 88, of of 1297 Ninth Street, a longtime resident of Marion died at 10:43 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 1985 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, following a sudden illness. He was born the son of Joe and Mary Miller Tilp on Sept. 21, 1896 in rural Clayton County. On Oct. 14, 1924 at Manchester, he was married to Edna White. He was employed by Fruehauf Trailer Company and by St. Luke's Hospital for several years. Mr. Tilp was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife; two daughter, Mrs. Quentin (Ellen) Wagenfield of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Robert F. (Beverly) Wright of Colorado Springs, Colorado; three grandchildren; and a brother, LeRoy Tilp of East Dubuque. He was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 1985 at the Marion Murdoch Chapel in Marion. They were conducted by The Rev. Dick Watkins. Interment was in Oak Shade Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
