Mrs. Hannah Christine Schrimper of 810 Tenth street, Marion died at 8:00 a.m. Wednesday morning at St. Luke's hosptial, following an operation, and an illness that began last January.
She was born March 5, 1885, in Sweden, and came with her parents, Adolph and Hulda Johnson to this country January 1, 1889, and contributed her part as a citizen of this country, for after graduating from Marion high school in 1902 she taught rural schools and at Ely and Coggon, and then for eight and a half years in the Prescott and Lincoln schools in Marion, helping build character and ideals for many of the citizens of this community in their formative years of their early youth.
She was married at her home here on June 18, 1918, to George A. Schrimper, who survives together with their son, Richard. She is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Hulda Johnson, three brothers, John Johnson of Marion, and Alfred and August Johnson of Cedar Rapids, and by one sister, Mrs. Esther Johnson of Rockford, Ill.
She was a faithful member of the Marion Methodist church, joining with her mother at the age of eleven at her own insistence, her father asserting that she was too young. She was a member of the Ladies Aid, working with the Loyal division.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Yocom chapel, with her pastor, Rev. E.T. Gough, in charge. Burial will be in Oak Shade cemetery.
