J. Earle Baker Dies; Services Saturday
J. Earle Baker, 74, formerly of 1503 Tenth street, Marion, and a lifelong resident of Linn county, died Thursday morning in a Cedar Rapids hospital.
Mr. Baker was employed by Allis-Chalmers Co. for 26 years prior to his retirement.
Born Aug. 5, 1889, in Bertram township, he was married to Retta Widger June 17, 1908, in Cedar Rapids. She died Jan. 4, 1960. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Howard Hanson of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; and three brothers, George and Thomas of Cedar Rapids and Jasper Baker of Marion.
Mr. Baker was a member of Osceola lodge, IOOF.
Memorial services: Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Murdoch chapel by the Rev. Jean P. Hauter. Burial: Oak Shade. Friends may call at the funeral home after 11 a.m. Friday.
