George A. Kolda, of Waubeek, Died Early Last Friday Morning
George A. Kolda, of Waubeek, died at a Cedar Rapids hospital, Friday morning, June 25, at 7:00 o'clock, following a brief illness.
Mr. Kolda was born near Solon February 20, 1884, and was married in Mount Vernon to Elizabeth Dvorak in 1905. In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, George J. Kolda, of Marion, and F. Harold Kolda, of Waubeek; a sister, Mrs. Anna Simitz, of Cedar Rapids, and four grandchildren.
Mr. Kolda was ever an active and useful man in his community. He served for twelve years on the Solon school board, and was township clerk for many years. He moved to a farm near Waubeek 12 years ago, and served there as AAA committeeman for Buffalo township. He was a member of the Springville I.O.O.F. lodge.
Funeral services were conducted Monday from the Hall of Memories at Cedar Memorial park, in charge of the Rev. M.C. Melcher, of Lamont, former pastor of the Waubeek Methodist church. Interment was in Cedar Memorail park.
Pallbearers were Lester Brink, of Cedar Rapids, William and Floyd Mitchell, Lee Boyse, Carl Schatzle and Nelson Van Horne, of Waubeek. Honorary pallbearers were Henry Hood, John Wagor and Thomas Neilly, of Central City, and Rex Conn, R.B. Boots and Lester Mitchell, of Cedar Rapids. The I.O.O.F. lodge of Springville had charge of the committal service.
Among those from out out-of-town who attended the funeral services were Arthur Storfa, of Lewistown, Mont., Mr. and Mrs. Rex Taylor, of Reinbeck, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Neuzil, Joe Hurtt and daughter, Rose, of Iowa City, Mrs. Marie Butler and two sons, of Mechanicsville, Mrs. Rose Dvorak, Frank Dvorak and Louise and Hubert, of Mount Vernon, Mrs. Anna Simitz, Mr. and Mrs. Milvur Simitz, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ilick, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Reynolds, Mr. and Mrs. Lumir Ilick, of Cedar Rapids, and George Simitz, of Ottumwa.
