John W. Scott, 56, a lifelong resident of Linn county, died at his home, 1132 Twelfth street NE, at 10:30 p.m. Friday following a long illness. He is survived by his widow, Minnie, three children and several brothers near Mount Vernon. Funeral services will be held in the Beatty chapel at a time to be announced later.
