Forrest F. Blackford, 80, 970 Eighth St., and a lifelong resident of the Marion area, died Friday, April 9 in a Cedar Rapids hospital. He was born the son of John H. and Edith E. Byerly Blackford on Jan. 17, 1896 on a farm near Marion. On April 10, 1917 he was married to Sarah Jeffries. Mr. Blackford retired as a carpenter in 1953.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Norman (Beulah) Crouse; and a son, Richard E. Blackford, all of Marion; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a sister, Jessie Coonrod of Robins; and two brothers, Harry and Hubert Blackford, both of Marion.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 12 at the Murdoch chapel in Marion, conducted by the Rev. Glen W. Lamb of the First United Methodist church. Interment was in Oak Shade cemetery.
