Edith M. BLACKFORD, 98, of Northbrook Manor Care Center, formerly of 3525 C Ave. Extension, Marion, died there Saturday following a lengthy illness. Services were held Wednesday at the Murdoch Funeral Home in Marion by Rev. Jack Kendall. Burial was in Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Surviving is a son, Ralph Blackford of Marion. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Hubert; three brothers and a sister; three step-daughters, Thelma Vogel, Vivian Peterson and Betty Blackford.
Born the daughter of John and Katherine Dukek on November 1, 1895, in rural Linn county, she married Hubert H. Blackford on September 7, 1921. He died February 14, 1981. Edith was a homemaker and a member of Prairie Chapel UMC and Ladies Progressive Club.
A memorial fund has been established.
