Funeral services for Mrs. Laura E. Kershner were held Sunday at the Yocom chapel, conducted by the Rev. W. E. Fisher, pastor of the Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Kershner, a long-time Marion resident, died Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Sloan, in Cedar Rapids.
Her maiden name was Laura Fuhrmeister. She was born near Ely, April 19, 1865, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Fuhrmeister. In October, 1887 she was married to Eugene Kershner, who died in 1918. Mrs. Kershner had resided in and near Marion for fifty-three years. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Marlon chapter No. 183 Order of the Eastern Star and the U. S. Circle. Surviving is her daughter, Mrs. Sloan, one son Andrew, three sisters,
Miss Nellie Fuhrmeister and Mrs. Fannie Achter of Cedar Rapids, three brothers, Ralph Fuhrmeister of Sheridan, Wyo., Luther Fuhrmeister of Cedar Rapids and George E. Fuhrmeister of Freemont, Nebr.
Mrs. Ethyl Wood Burmingham sang two numbers at the funeral service, accompanied by Mrs. Kenneth Murdock. Pallbearers were W. B. Sebern, Clark Creglow, W. W. Yocom, Carl Wallace, G. A. Patschke and A. J. Taube. Interment was made In Oak Shade cemetery.
