Local Woman Died Jan. 8 In Illinois
Mrs. John Standish, 943 Eighteenth st., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 8, at the home of her son, Fred W. Standish, at Lanark, Ill. where she was visiting.
Born Sara Grubeck on October 5, 1882 at Gmund, Austira, she has made her home in Marion since 1907. She was married to John Standish on May 1, 1901. He passed away on October 24, 1943. Mrs. Standish was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist in Cedar Rapids.
Surviving in addition to her son are two daughters, Mrs. Berneta Hyde, Leavenworth, Kan., and Mrs. Joan Botruff, Galesburg, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. C.H. Dearborn, Stone City, a brother, Fred Grubeck, Fairhope, Ala.; 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild. A daughter, Mrs. June Wallace, preceded her in death.
Memorial services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11 at the Murdoch chapel, Marion, by the First Reader of the First Church of Christ Scientist. Interment was in Cedar Memorial.
