Carl C. Hoover, 87, of 849 Daniels St., NE., Cedar Rapids, and a lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids and Robins, died Nov. 23 in a Cedar Rapids hospital. He was born the son of James A. and Charlotte Cronk Hoover on Jan. 1, 1889 at Quinter, Kans. On Feb. 12, 1921 at Robins he was married to Nancy R. Baer, who died Dec. 12, 1965 at Cedar Rapids. Mr. Hoover served in the European Theatre with the U.S. Army during World War I, and had been a salesman forW.T. Raleigh Co. for 37 years, retiring in 1965. He was a member of the Robins Church of the Brethren where he had served as Deacon of the church since 1925.
Surviving are a son, Philip C. Hoover, West Burlington; three granddaughters; three great grandchildren; two brothers, James L. Hoover of Robins and Ralph Hoover of Elkader; and three sisters, Pearl Bebee of Robins, Frances Kramer of Marion and Bess Emmons of Naples, Fla.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26 at the Church of the Brethren at Robins, conducted by the Rev. Gene Burry. Interment was in Oak Shade Cemetery at Marion. Murdoch chapel in Marion had charge of the arrangements.
