Edward John Hassler, 62, of 1227 Third street NW, shift foreman at the Quaker Oats Co. and a Cedar Rapids resident 42 years, died Wednesday following a brief illness. He was born in Germany July 19, 1906. Mr. Hassler was a member of the AFL-CIO
Surviving are his wife, Mamie; three stepsons, Leslie R. Skersick of Calmar, Richard Skersick of rural Marion, and Lewis C. Skersick of Downey, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Gladys Baker of Baldwin Park, Calif.; five sisters, Mamie Lockhart of Cedar Rapids; Anna Nichols of Springfield, Ill.; Della VanBuskirk, Irene McClain and Edith Griffin, all of Freeport, Ill.; a brother, Charles Numeri of Cleveland; 16 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Services: Beatty-Beurle chapel at 1:30 p.m. Monday. Interment: Shiloh cemetery, Hiawatha. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Thursday.
