Thursday October 31, 1918 The Marion Weekly Sentinel
Death entered the H.D. Carpenter home, 2222 Tenth avenue for the second time within a week, when Mrs. Carpenter passed away, Wednesday afternoon, following a few days illness of influenza terminating in pneumonia. Harold C. Kafer, a young man who made his home there, died just a week previous, and at that time Mrs. Carpenter and her daughter, Mrs. Mille Springer were ill and a professional nurse was secured to care for them. The Carpenter family moved to Marion two or three years ago from Robins, Mr. Carpenter being a rural mail carrier and his daughter frequently acts as substitute carrier. Owing to the serious condition of the daughter, the funeral was held Thursday at 1:30, at the Pingrey chapel with the Rev. A.H. Hanscom of the Methodist church officiating. Interment was in Shiloh cemetery.
