Funeral services for Mary Jessie Gleason, 79, were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon in Yocom chapel with Rev. C.V.R. DeJong officiating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery, Manchester, Iowa.
Mrs. Gleason died at 10:10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, at the home of Mrs. Charles Keenan, after a long illness.
The daughter of Jesse and Mary Benedict Cook, she was born September 18, 1868, at Marion and was educated in the Marion schools. She was married to Silas T. Burt of Columbus, Ohio, Sept. 13, 1888. Mr. Burt died in August, 1907.
She returned to Marion about thirty years ago from Manchester and on Jan. 29, 1918 she was married to John Gleason. He died in April, 1936. She was a member of the Marion Presbyterian church and the Women's Relief Corps.
Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Mrs. B.W. Joy, Marshalltown; two grandchildren, Mrs. Nylene Blessing, Des Moines, and Mrs. Marilyn Anson, Marshalltown; two great grandchildren and two half-brothers, Harry and Will Cook of Miles City, Mont.
Two sons, Merritt D. Burt and Everett L. Burt, preceded her in death.
