Marshall G. Oxley, 92, of Muscatine, formerly of Iowa City, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, in Crescent Nursing Home, Muscatine, after a long illness...Burial: 3:45 p.m. Friday, Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids...
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Anna Lea on Dec. 25, 1996.
Marshall G. Oxley was born Oct. 10, 1908, in Marion, the son of Clarence R. and Lizzie Oxley. He attended and graduated from Marion High School in 1927 and served in Europe with the Army during World War II. Marshall married Anna Lea Heverly on Sept. 24, 1934, in Clinton, Iowa. Together they lived in Columbus Junction, Muscatine and Burlington, moving to Iowa City in the early 1960s. Marshall was a food store manager for Benner's Grocery Stores in Burlington. He retired from Colonial Lanes in Iowa City as manager in 1982. He was a past member of the Iowa City Eagles Lodge and Burlington Lions Club. Marshall lived in Iowa City until January 1992, when he moved to a care facility in Muscatine....
