Lizzie G. Oxley, 88, of 1043 Twelfth street, a lifelong resident of Marion, died in a Marion nursing home.
She was born Aug. 10, 1881, east of Marion. On May 7, 1902, at Des Moines, she was married to Clarence R. Oxley, who died Nov. 29, 1962, at Cedar Rapids. Mrs. Oxley was a member of the First Methodist church of Marion and a charter member of Dinna Fret club.
Surviving are a daughter, Helen Oxley of Marion; two sons, Marshall G. Oxley of Iowa City and Charles R. Oxley of Center Point; three grandchildren, Mrs. Roland Harger of Marquette, Mich., Joel M. Oxley of Iowa City and C. Robert Oxley of Center Point; a sister, Mrs. Harry Yount of Darlington, Ind.; and a brother, Allen W. Groll of Portland, Ore.
Services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Murdoch chapel in Marion conducted by the Rev. Lloyd C. Kellams. Burial: Oak Shade cemetery in Marion. Friends may call at the chapel after 2 p.m. Sunday.
