Mrs. Jalaa Ellen Groll succumbed to a long illness Tuesday evening at 11:30 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C.R. Oxley, 998 Eleventh street.
She was born at Gallatin, Mo., January 20, 1861, the daughter of Alfred and Mary Shelly Busenbark, and came to Linn county during the days of the Civil war. November 17, 1880, she was married in the home of her parents, near Mount Vernon, to Charles F. Groll. After a successful career of many years on the farm they retired and moved to town in 1912, and Mr. Groll died here February 14, 1928. Surviving are four children, Milt Valle, Calif.; Marge Young, Lizzie Oxley, Marion; George Groll, Darlington, Ind., and Allen Groll, Portland, Ore. There are also nine grandchildren, and the following brothers and sisters: Rilla Harbach, Berkley, Calif.; Addie Travis, Mount Vernon; Quincy Busenbark, Chicago; Millie Stoufer, Oakland, Calif.; Oscar Busenbark, Marion; Florence Berry, Chicago, and Ralph Busenbark, Mount Vernon.
The funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Yocom chapel, with the Rev. A.W. Henke and the Rev. E.T. Gough as the ministers. Burial will be made in Oak Shade.
