W.B. Austin, Retired Farmer, died Monday
William B. Austin, for many years a farmer in the Prarie Chapel neighborhood, died Monday, April 17, at 6:45 at a Cedar Rapids nursing home.
Mr. Austin was born on a farm north of Marion, June 15, 1873, the son of William A. and Julalia Lucore Austin, and farmed until 1922 when he moved to Cedar Rapids, and was for 14 years an employe [sic] of the Pennick & Ford Co. He was a member of the Prairie Chapel Methodist church.
Surviving are five sisters, and a brother--Mrs. Margaret Sano [sic], of Riverton, Wyo.; Mrs. Kate Crew, Omaha; Mrs. Sade Scott, Santa Ana, Calif.; Mrs. Ina Dye Minor, Marion; Mrs. Merle Jordan, Cedar Rapids, and John C. Austin, of Fountain, Mich.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 19, at 2 p.m., at the Yocom funeral home in Marion, the Rev. Clyde Scott, being the officiating minister. The bearers wre Irvin Scott, Roy Scott, Dan Lillie and Herman Koch. Burial was made in Oak Shade cemetery.
