W.O. Stewart, Covington Railroad Veteran, Dies
Funeral services for W.O. Stewart, of Covington, who died in a local hospital at 10 a.m. Tuesday, will be held in the Yocum [sic] Funeral home, Marion, at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. William H. Bridwell will officiate and burial will be in Oak Shade cemetery, Marion.
Mr. Stewart was born OCt. 18, 1865, in Ohio and on May 23, 1888, was married to Agnes Smart. To this union five children were born two of whom, Roy and Mary, preceded him in death. Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Dolly Robertson, Mrs. D.C. Wilkes, and one son, W.A. Stewart, of Cedar Rapids, fourteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, four brothers, George Stewart, Cedar Rapids; Harry of Ottumwa, Charles and Elmer Stewart, both of Barnesville, O., and a sister, Mrs. Clare Sayer, of New Philadelphia, O.
Mr. Stewart had been employed by the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul railroad for the last thirty years as carpenter foreman and for the last thirteen years he had charge of the pumping station at Covington.
