Mrs. Agnes Catherine Stewart, 78, died Sunday at 12:40 p.m. in a Cedar Rapids hospital after a brief illness. She was born Feb. 22, 1865, at Guernsey, Ia., and reared in North English. She later lived in Ottumwa, moving to Marion about 30 years ago. She had lived in Cedar Rapids for the last 10 years. She was married May 10, 1887, at Montezuma to William O. Stewart, who died in Marion June 21, 1932.
She was a member of the North English Methodist church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Clara D. Phelps, Allison hotel, and Mrs. Ida M. Wilkes, Davenport; a son, William T. Stewart, a carpenter's mate first class in the navy; 12 grandchildren, including Roy L. Stewart, aviation chief metal smith at Norman, Okla., whom the Stewarts had reared; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Ida Swain, Keswick, and a brother, John C. Smart, Omaha.
Services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Yocom funeral home in Marion by the Rev. Arthur W. Henke. Burial will be in the family lot at Oak Shade cemetery, Marion. Friends may call at the chapel
