Elizabeth Francis Hawk was born near Mt. Vernon Iowa, January 24, 1856, and died near Anamosa, Iowa, March 23, 1915, aged 59 years. She was united in marriage to Mrs. N.P. Gooley September 2, 1877. To this union were born six children, one having died in infancy. Those who mourn her death, are the husband, Mr. N.P. Gooley, Mrs. L.A. Klumph, Mrs. C.L. Guzzle, Mrs. Harley Guzzle of Marion, Mr. John Gooley of Anamosa and Mrs. Carie Brown of Murrie Minn, also two sisters, Mrs. S.S.Everheart of Mt. Vernon, Iowa, Mrs. P.C. Torrance of Rockwell City, Iowa, and five grand children. She was united with the M.E. church when but a child. She has been a most kind a thoughtful mother and friend. She was ill but a few days, she with her husband were making preparations to leave the farm and retire for the remainder of life that was reasonably expected.
The services were held Friday afternoon from the residence of her daughter, Mrs. L.A. Klumph in Marion, conducted by Dr. C.F. Englan, pastor of the Presbyterian church. Burial taking place in Oak Shade cemetery.
