Louis A. Klumph, 80, passed away at 8:10 p.m. Thursday at his home, 937 Eighth st., following a long illness.
He was born August 11, 1873, in the Buffalo community west of Marion, the son of Alonzo R. and Martha Ann Sleight Klumph. He has lived in Marion ever since he was 17 years old. He was married November 25, 1897 at Marion to Flora Ellen Gooley. She died June 12, 1952.
Mr. Klumph is a retired car foreman for the Milwaukee road and has had 50 years of service. He served several terms as councilman from the fourth ward of Marion.
He was a member of the Marion Presbyterian church; Marion lodge No. 6, A.F. & A.M.; past high priest of Marion Chapter No. 10, R.A.M. and a member of Palestine Council No. 27 R and S.M.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. C. Merle (Dorothy) Robison and Mrs. George (Bernice) Bristol of Marion; four grand children, Calvin L. Robison, Ames, Mrs. Dale (Marilyn) Wicke, Mary Lou and Judy Bristol, all of Marion. Also surviving are a brother, H.C. Klumph and a sister, Mrs. Ed (Ollie) Smith, both of Marion.
Memorial services were conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the Murdoch Funeral Home by the Rev. C.V.R. DeJong and Marion Lodge No. 6, A.F. & A.M. Interment was in Oak Shade cemetery. Bearers were L.O. Dickey, John Gritzner, Floyd Robson and Harry Robson. Soloist was Mrs. C.V.R. DeJong.
