Bertha Byers, 81, Cedar Rapids, a former Marion resident, passed away at 8 p.m. Wednesday following a long time illness.
She was born on August 27, 1870 at Lisbon, the daughter of Warren and Carissa Church Johnson. Her husband, James Byers preceeded her in death.
Mrs. Byers is survived by a brother, Curtis Johnson of Marion and three sisters: Miss Esther Johnson of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Ann Morrow of Ottumwa and Mrs. Jennie Seeley of California.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Yocom-Murdoch Chapel by the Rev. W.P. Hansen of Cedar Rapids. Burial was in Oak Shade Cemetery.
