George L. Erwin, sr., 74, a retired grocer, died Monday at 4:30 p.m. in his home, 958 Twelfth street, Marion, following a long illness.
Born April 10, 1881, at Columbus Junction, Mr. Erwin resided in Marion for 48 years. He moved to Marion from Anamosa. He was married to Stella Franz at Marion Oct. 22, 1907. Mrs. Erwin died Sept. 14, 1949. He was married to Mrs. Mae Gilbert at Lancaster, Mo., Sept. 29, 1950. He was a member of the Marion Methodist church.
Surviving, in addition to his wife are a son, George L. Erwin, jr., of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Mrs. Don (Mary E.) Kirkham of Ames; six grandchildren; and a brother, Frank Erwin of Santa Rosa, Calif.
Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Murdoch chapel by the Rev. James P. Gable. Burial will be in Oak Shade cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel
