Obituary from the Thursday March 2, 1950 edition of the Cedar Rapids Gazette from Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Mrs. Anna Elizabeth Espey, 70, of 504 Thirty-second street NE, died in a Cedar Rapids hospital at 6:10 a.m. Thursday after a brief illness.
Born at Amirette, Minn., Aug. 13, 1879, Mrs. Espey came to Cedar Rapids from Waterloo. She spent most of her life at Albert Lea, Minn. She was a member of St. Matthew's parish.
Surviving are two sons, Dr. F.O. Espey of Cedar Rapids and Albert B. Espey of Clinton; two daughters, Mrs. Dennis Martin and Mrs. James H. Tuberty of Albert Lea; two brothers, Jerry Welch of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Jack Welch of Rochester; a sister, Mrs. Nell Shepard of Havre, Mont.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted in St. Matthew's church at 10 a.m. Saturday by the Rev. James Kearn. Burial will be in St. Theodore cemetery at Albert Lea. Father Kearn, the Altar society, Rosary society, Holy Name society and the Knights of Columbus will recite the Rosary at 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Teahen chapel, where friends may call after 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
