Obituary from the Central City Newsletter Microfilm:

George W. Brown, son of John and Mary Elizabeth Brown, was born Dec. 4, 1847, in Fairfield County, Ohio. He departed this life Feb. 6, 1924 at the age of 76 years, 2 months, and 2 days. He came with his parents at the age of 3 years, to Boulder Township, Linn County Iowa. Theirs was the first house erected in the township. In 1898 he moved to Central City where he has made his home until his death. He was united in marriage to Margaret F. Brown, June 15, 1871. To this union, four children were born. Alice Cline of Moffit, ND, John Albert Brown of Dell Rapids, SD, Sara Jane Aikin of Central City, who preceded him in death May 17, 1918, and Earl L. Brown of Central City. His wife preceded him in death April 5, 1919. He united with the church early in life and has been affiliated with this church at least 30 years. He is a member of a family of eight children, two brothers and two sisters having preceded him in death. Besides these, he leaves a host of relatives and friends. His bible was his constant companion and a great source of comfort; in fact, this and his children were his greatest consolation since the passing of his wife. This virtue is worthy of imitation both by his immediate family and his many friends.
