Mrs. Amanda Brown Died Friday Afternoon, Aug. 23

Mrs Amanda Philena Brown, 60 years old, died Friday afternoon following an illness of several months, cancer being the cause of her death. Funeral services were held in the Congregational Church Sunday afternoon, Dr. U. G. Lacey in charge, and burial was made in the Boulder Cemetery.

Amanda Philena Smith was bron near Anamosa April 11, 1869, and died at the home of her only daughter, Mrs. C.L. Fleming, August 23, aged 69 years, 4 months, and 12 days.

Miss Smith was united in marriage to William H. Brown January 9, 1885, and to this union one child, Mrs. C. L. Fleming was born. Mr. Brown died 16 years ago, and since that time Mrs. Brown has resided in Central City, and at the home of her daughter. Surviving are the daughter Mrs. C. L. Fleming, two sisters in California, Mrs. Mary Faragher and Mrs. Clara Wilder, on sister residing in Seattle, Washington, Mrs. Margaret Smith and one brother David Smith, also a resident of Washington, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Kate Betzer of Chicago, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren, as well as a host of friends.
