Verna E. Woods, 74, of 614 9th ave., SE, Cedar Rapids and a lifelong resident of Linn county, passed away at 12:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19 at her home. She was born the daughter of Delbert and Lucretia Kearns Campbell on April 28, 1892 near Paralta, Ia. Mrs. Woods moved to Cedar Rapids from Marion in 1938.
Surviving are two sons, Ivan Woods and Arnold Woods of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Ruth) Conrad of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Thomas Woods, Billy Conrad and Connie Reynolds of Cedar Rapids and Carol Woods of Paralta; three great-grandchildren, Gary E. Woods and Vickie and Brian Reynolds of Cedar Rapids; three brothers, Merle Campbell of Wyoming, Melvin Campbell of Paralta and Leo Campbell of Marion and four sisters, Mrs. Cleve (Mabel) Bennett and Mrs. Minnie Richardson of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Aileen Blair of Sacramento, Calif. and Mrs. Irene Mann. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard J. Woods on Sept. 16,1966, and two other sons, Arthur and Raymond Woods and a brother and two sisters.
Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22 at the Murdoch Chapel in Marion, conducted by Rev. Clyde Scott, pastor of the Springville United Methodist chuch. Interment: Paralta cemetery. Mrs. Woods passed away preparing to attend her son's funeral on Monday at the Murdoch chapel.
