Orlan M. Klopp, 75, of rural Walker, died of cancer Thursday morning in St. Luke's Hospital. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Murdoch Funeral Home, Marion, with military rites by American Legion Marion Post 298. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Survivors include his wife, Ruby; (the rest I will omit for privacy)
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, six brothers, and three grandchildren.
Born the son of Stephen and Mary Stockberger Klopp on July 7, 1915, in Marion, he married Ruby Kent there on June 19, 1941. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was employed as a machinist by Kwik-Way Manufacturing Company for 44 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of International Machinsts and Aerospace Workers, Harmony Lodge No. 831 and American Legion Marion Post 298.
The Rev. Larry Hayward of First Presbyterian Church, Cedar Rapids, will officiate. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
