Walter W. Waddill, 83, of 711 Third avenue, died Thursday in a Cedar Rapids nursing home.
He was born Feb. 2, 1880, in Illinois. He was married to Ava Kinney Brown on Oct. 27, 1937, at Redding, Calif. The Waddills moved to Marion from Grand Ledge, Mich., in 1948. He was employed by The Gazette from May of 1948 until October of 1961.
Mr. Waddill owned a print shop in Red Bluff, Calif., for many years. He owned a newspaper in Michigan also. He was a journeyman printer.
Survivors are his wife; three sons, Clarence R. of Des Moines, Clifford L. of Sacramento, Calif., and Leonard E. of Des Moines; a step-daughter Rowena Brown Thurber of Marion; a step-son, Robert A. Brown of Midland, Mich.; several grandchildren, and a sister, Bess Heathershow of Rapids City, S.D.
Services: Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Murdoch chapel by the Rev. Lloyd C. Kellams. Burial: Oak Shade. Friends may call at the chapel.
