Susan Alice Jayne, died at 5:25 p.m., Tuesday, August 28, 1945, at her home, 927 Fifth avenue, SE, in Cedar Rapids, where she had resided for the past ten years, though most of her long life was spent in and around Marion. Her illness was long.
She was born February 26, 1870 at Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Joshua and Mary Demory Hayes, and was married March 10, 1888 at Marengo to John Edward Jayne, who survives together with their five sons, Vernon of Des Moines, and Bruce, Harry, Donald and LeRoy of Cedar Rapids; three daughters, Mrs. Hazel LaBarge of Central City and Mrs. Carmeleta Miller and Mrs. Alberta Jordan of Cedar Rapids; also 23 grandchildren, and two brothers, James E. and Henry Hayes, of Cedar Rapids.
Mrs. Jayne was a member of the Methodist church.
Funeral services will be held at the Yocom chapel at 2:00 p.m., Friday, with the Rev. H.L. Ruthoruff, of Cedar Rapids, in charge. Burial will be made in Oak Shade cemetery.
