Services for John Jayne, 82, of 927 Fifth street, S.E., Cedar Rapids, who died at 7:55 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at St. Luke's hospital, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Yocom chapel. Rev. James P. Gable was in charge and burial was made in Oak Shade cemetery. Bearers were Donald Jayne, Delbert LaBarge, LeRoy Jayne and Harry Jordan.
John Edward Jayne was born on January 23, 1864. He married Susan Alice Hayes at Marengo on March 10, 1888. The family had lived in Marion for many years, moving to Cedar Rapids in 1935. Mrs. Jayne died August 28, 1945 at Cedar Rapids.
Surviving are seven children, Bruce Jayne of Indianapolis, Ind.; Mrs. Hazel LaBarge, Central City; Vernon Jayne, Des Moines; Mrs. Carmelita Miller, Mrs. Albert Jordan, Donald Jayne, LeRoy Jayne of Cedar Rapids and Harry Jayne at home; 23 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Three children, Grace, Merle and Arnold, preceded him in death.
