E. Harlan DeSotel, 81, formerly of Anamosa, died Tuesday April 7, 2015 in Mission, Texas following a short illness. Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday April 16, 2015 at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife Marjorie DeSotel, his children; John (Vicky) DeSotel of Oelwein, Iowa, Susan (Mike) Pasker, Donald DeSotel and Steven (Connie) DeSotel all of Manchester, his grandchildren; Mitchell DeSotel, Angela DeSotel, Stacy Pasker, Amy Willey, Daniel DeSotel, Tiffany DeSotel, Tarah DeSotel, Ryan DeSotel and Shelby DeSotel, his great grandchildren; Christopher DeSotel, Landen DeSotel, Bryce Willey and Carson Willey. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings; Edward, Eldon, Helen, Birdena, Clarence, Edwin and Cora.

Harlan was born September 12, 1933 in Edgewood, Iowa, the son of Edward and Blanche (Maeder) DeSotel. He married Marjorie Johnson on January 19, 1985 in Anamosa, Iowa. Harlan was a driver for H & W Motor Express. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Anamosa, Eagles Club in Dubuque and Local # 421 Union Teamster.
A memorial fund has been established for Camp Courageous of Monticello.
