Wednesday May 23, 1906 The Marion Register
Miss Josephine Michel Maier was born April 10, 1886, in Blackhawk [sic] Co., Iowa, and died May 16, 1906, at the home of her husband's parents near Lafayette, Iowa.
She united with the Presbyterian church of this city, on Easter Sunday in the spring of 1901, of which she was member at the time of her death, always taking an active part in the church work, being a member of the choir for a number of years. She graduated from the Marion High School with the class of 1903, at the conclusion of which she devoted her time to her home, always striving to make others happy.
Miss Michel was married to Mr. Charles Maier February 14, 1906, and her untimely death was a shock to her host of friends in Marion and vicinity and a universal sorrow amongst the whole community. Mr. Maier was building a new home, which would have been complete in the near future. Besides her husband she leaves to mourn her loss her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Michel, one brother, Wilbur, two sisters, Mrs. Carl Voss and Miss Ida Michel, all residing in this city.
After a short service at the home in Lafayette, the remains were brought to Marion, where the funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church, last Friday, conducted by the pastor, Rev. R.L. Campbell, and the remains laid to rest in Oak Shade cemetery.
The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful, and in a marked degree expressed the universal esteem in which she was held by her many friends. The bereaved families have the sympathy of a large circle of friends, with whom the REGISTER sincerely joins.
