Charles F. Maier, 79, a retired farmer, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Delta, Colo. He was a resident of Linn County until 10 years ago.
Born Nov. 27, 1884, in Alburnett, he lived in the Alburnett-Lafayette community until moving to Colorado, where he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Ingval Hanson. He was the son of Jacob and Caroline Schweitzer Maier. He was married to Ida Mae Michel Oct. 8, 1907.
Mr. Maier was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Marion, Marion Lodge No. 6, A.F.& A.M., Marion Chapter No. 183, O.E.S., the Iowa Consistory and El Kahir Temple in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ingval (Genevieve) Hanson and Mrs. Alvin (Josephine) Johnson of Chadron, Neb.; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Maier and Mrs. Carl Michel, both of Marion.
Services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Baxter Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Lloyd C. Kellams and Marion Lodge No. 6. Burial was in Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
