JACOB MAIER DIES AT HIS HOME ON TUESDAY AFTER LONG ILLNESS

Jacob Maier, 74, died at his home, 1235 Twelfth street at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, following a long illness during which he submitted to two operations, one on Nov. 31 and the second last May. He seemed to be better for a time and has only been confined to his bed the last two weeks.
Jacob Maier was born August 3, 1848, in Erie, Pennsylvania, and came to Iowa with his parents in 1854. He was married December 25, 1873 to Caroline Schweitzer of Alburnett and they went to housekeeping on his parent's farm. He lived on this farm from the time he came to Linn county, until he moved to Marion twelve years ago.
He leaves beside his wife, four daughter, Mrs. Clista Dubbs of Monticello, Mrs. Charity Michel of Marion, and Ruth and Esther Maier at home, and two sons, C.F. Maier of Lafayette and Wade of Lafayette. One child died in infancy. He also leaves one brother, Samuel Maier, of Lafayette, and three sisters, Mrs. George Eidermiller, Mrs. Louis Quaas of Alburnett, and Mra. Henry Etzel of Lafayette, and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the family home, 1235 Twelfth street. The Rev. Harry Glenn Finney will be in charge and burial will be made in Oak Shade.
